Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

Did they do a hard-pull inquiry of your credit report when you placed your order ?

Do they report the account as a revolving line or installment loan ?

Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

@Kaismith

FingerHut seems to take a while to report.

In my case, I got approved with them on Feb. 16. Statement cut in early March and they are NOW just reporting the tradeline - so for me, they started reporting about 1 month and 2 weeks after first getting approved.

And FingerHut did credit February as "pays as agreed" along with the month of March, too.

I've also read around here that others have noticed, too, that they take a while to report.

Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

My fingerhut reports as a store card...  (revolving, not installment)

I made one purchase with it when I got the card in January of 10 or 11 (can't remember...).

I thought the price was fine...haven't seen the item offered anywhere else, and I've been very satisfied with them.

The account reports to EQ and TU, but not EX.

Three of four (unasked for) CLI's later, it's a $1,000 credit line with a zero balance.

No complaints from me.  Smiley Happy

Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

That's good to know that FingerHut reports to 2 out of the 3 bureaus. All three would be nice, but two are nice, too. For some that can actually be a positive.

Let me throw in there too that regardless of your situation, DON'T MAKE ANY MAJOR PURCHASES at FingerHut. Like don't buy computers, furniture, stuff like that. You will pay through the nose for no reason at all.

The two products I bought were $148 and $168 respectively, but I knew that I was going to pay the balance off within a week of each purchase so as to avoid the "easy" and "small" monthly payments. But for most people, buy something for under $50 or under $100 if you can afford it and then pay it off - whether it be the full amount or half the amount spread over 2 months, but pay it off as fast as you can.

I think the goal with FingerHut is to take whatever paltry initial limit they offer and do the dance until they give you a nice, fat, juicy line of credit and then take a seat and let the "huge" credit line on your report shine.

Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

I'm looking at the Fingerhut credit details now as well, and they surely report to 2 majors bureaus - which increases your chances to improve the credit score (if you're not late with payments). I have found an infographic which describes Fingerhut account features (it has a review and FAQs at the bottom of the page), may be it can help. I've also heard that they can increase your CL quickly enough.

Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

Creditkarma has made some interesting recommendations to me as well. Thy have stated that I have a poor chance of getting a card I already have. They have recommended cards that were sub prime. They seem to just try and push whatever sponsor is paying them the most this month... 😏

Re: Really??? Fingerhut??

Yes I do not understand credit karma. It told me I have a poor chance to get a Discover It card but It also recommends the same card that I have a poor chance of getting for the range of my credit score. I applied thru this site and got approved ( do you think that had something to do with my approval) I mean I have been working hard on getting my credit right. I never would have thought I would have a Discove card within 1 yr of me rebuilding credit

I think that $148 + $168 gives you a decent deposit on a secured card Smiley Surprised
