Re: Reducing credit is fun

Thnx for the kind thoughts !!!!!

time to evict the current tenants and reserve those slots for new tenants that will pull their weight.....

i do about 70 swipes a month so CSP,freedom,Hyatt will get most of those for sure.

I will only keep loyal lenders on my team.

as stated before , by end of 2016, any card under $15k will get closed.so yes I will be on a HP cli spree this year,

under manual review , all I  want to hear is {{{DAMN}}} .. That's better than APRROVED, because that says "IMPRESSED" (without saying it)

Re: Reducing credit is fun

I think they should start up a monthlay closure thread like they do the garden thread each month. That would be great...

"January 2016 Closure Thread "

Great idea! This would also show a balanced perspective and help us all to realize that culling the herd can be a good thing, and to keep that flexibility in terms of continually modifying our profiles. Smiley Happy

Very great concept !!!! Would be nice if Administration would stick their head in the door and see this Smiley Happy

Mods run this by Admin and see what they think ........

this would definitely help people get the big picture by seeing what others are will to give up , in order to gain other products for the long term.

Get advice ice and options without having 350 separate threads about it each month.

Same goes for a monthly cli thread....would cut down on all the 900 cli threads each month .

i don't post cli unless it's something out the norm... Like if I took my Amex to $45k lol.......

Re: Reducing credit is fun

Definitely closing AARP, but only taking $3k from it and moving to Slate. Dont want to hear Chase telling me I'm at my max again if theres another card they have I may be interested in later.
Closing Arrival+, a $24.5k SM card limit is rather unnecessary but Id like to keep the same total exposure with Barclay and they havent given me any problems with consolidating before.

Seriously considering closing BCE and Discover also by the end of the year. Sole reason for BCE being open is bc of the 2000 backdate but I've realized I dont particularly care anymore. Had I not stumbled on this forum I wouldnt have known such a thing even existed. Literally havent used it for months and losing Amex from the portfolio wont bother me.

Discover used to be my favorite card, now not so much. Had one too many hassles getting Discover Deal bonuses and I use it maybe twice a month at most now with Petco. Not getting 10-15% off $60 here and there wont bother me.
At this point Im over rewards/bonus chasing, tired of having cards I dont use and therefore dont need. Smiley Happy Should have passed on AARP but too late now.

Re: Reducing credit is fun

I will be closing my Barclay's Rewards MC this week as soon as my payment posts.  I will also be closing Home Depot and seriously considering closing my TR Visa and Overstock but not certain just yet.

Re: Reducing credit is fun

Don't close them too fast. Barclays slashed my limits after seeing me close commenitycards. I reduced credit by 12k, so they dropped my NFL from 5000 to 1500
