Ridiculous World of Hyatt Value and CSR

I got my WoH card, older version, last year and hit the SUB easily. Before they increased the redemption table I was able to book a Category 3 hotel for 6 nights.

A year later I was attempting to use my free night certificate and was told that they did not have availability for the weekend I wanted. Mind you it’s Ocean City MD in the middle of August. Got Customer Service on chat and he booked it for me anyway!

The total value for all of this is something in the area of $7.5k. The weekend in OCMD alone would have been $1500 at the end of the day!

I don’t use the card much but wow has Hyatt been fantastic!

I don’t have the Hyatt card or plan to get one, but lately, we’ve only used our URs for Hyatt transfers. Most times, I’m able to find availability for great redemptions. Coincidentally, I’m also booking a long weekend in Ocean City, MD. Most likely the same hotel as you located right on the beach, which goes for about $500 a night during the summer, but only 15k points per night. 60k URs for over $2k in value is excellent, IMO.

It is, in fact, the same hotel at almost $750, with taxes, per night! Beyond thrilled with Hyatt!

I've had some good award stays at higher-tier Hyatts, but so far I've only managed to use my CC renewal nights for basic (but comfortable) airport hotels. Still, a $125 or $250 room for a $75 (old card) AF is a great deal!

I used to be a bit unhappy with Hyatt's limited award space, but IHG has tightened up so much that it's hard to complain about Hyatt. And Hyatt certain wins on consistency, comfort, and value.

This site was my downfall in all reality. I’d done some light traveling but never had time for consistent travel, nor was a priority because I’d assumed it had to be expensive.

Since joining here I learned to earn free travel. I’ve never actually stayed at a Hyatt (at least that I remember) but have heard such fantastic things, I also figured it was an in with Chase. I’m elated at the experience I’ve had thus far. Hyatt has been wonderful to work with and will remain my first choice if they have a hotel where we are going. If not Marriott will have to do!

I’ve paid the AF twice, nothing more. I got, basically, $750 in value for the free night and used points from the SUB and minimal spend otherwise for a total of 7 nights. I’m taking my family to Disney for a week on Chase as well so I have 0 complaints about value!

yup, looking forward to getting this card from Chase. although i'm not sure if keeping it beyond the sub will make sense for me. takes quite a bit of spending on the card to get you to the next elite status (Explorist) with Hyatt. w/ my current spending the card would have to be my main card. i rather get UR or MR points and have the flexibility of transferring to airlines as well.

anyone with the Discoverist status have any success in getting room upgraded? the Park Hyatt in my area is a category 4 hotel.

Sorry to disappoint AJC. Chase and I have moments, then we argue, then we have more moments. Either way this card has been great IMO.

Kudos, also IMO, the card is worth the free night alone.

is that for every year or just a one time thing?

With my current profile and no relationship with Chase I dont think i'll be able to get it now. Plan is to get in with Amex with the Hilton Ascend. 150,000 sub bonus gets me quite a few nights in the places I want to go. After I'm done with my Hilton sub I'll think about the WOH. Any thoughts on whether the WOH or CSP is harder to get?
