Re: Rumors about AMEX Green?

If the leak is true, this is a product squarely aimed at the

millenial market with all the buzz words, environmental

emphasis, and trendy partners.

Looks like a legit inside leak.

Lounge Buddy (*but only enough to credit 2-3 visits)

Clear (Airport Screening)

Away (luggage)

"Parley for the Oceans" (plastic recycling)

"Paperless statements" promotional tagline

"Peer-to-Peer" promotional tagline

"Mobile Assistant Servicing" promotional tagline

Also looks like more hype than substance.  Pass.

Oh look......it's the 22nd and still no AMEX Green Card refresh.

Good thing I wasn't holding my breath.

TBH, after looking at it, right off the bat the image just looks "off".

I think Amex has better graphic designers than that, lol.

Re: Rumors about AMEX Green?

Anybody want to take bets on the bonus multiplier on "travel" being only through amextravel.com?

Re: Rumors about AMEX Green?

Definitely not taking that bet Disco, I don't think they have a card with travel category that isn't through amextravel.com.  I bet the multiplier is x2, though!

If that picture is true this card does not interest me in the slightest, but mainly because I have other cards that cover the bonus categories already, not that it is bad by itself.  Those credits aren't really useful to me personally, at all.

Re: Rumors about AMEX Green?

The credits aren’t useful to me either, and they really don’t make a lot of since. I feel like if you are someone who would benefit from clear or loungebuddy, you probably already have a better travel card because you are traveling a lot. I’m not sure who exactly they are aiming for with this card, if this leak is even true.

The image looks like is from an internal powerpoint.

Don't be so quick to dismiss it based on graphics.

It could be a draft version or an internal powerpoint, not a finished webpage.

I wouldn't. AMEX tries to cut corners on rewards while advertising how great they are.

  • Rewards caps (groceries up to 6k per year, BBP up to 50k, etc.).

  • You can earn 5x the points on hotel purchases... But oh wait, you have to book through AMEX travel. Wonderful if you want to use Fine Hotels and Resorts - lame if you want to book any other hotel. For example, at a casino/resort I stay at, I have to pay full price for the hotel room (which isn't any cheaper than the rate when booking directly through the hotel). If I book direclty through the hotel, I can get a discount for being a AAA member of about $30 a night. Why would I want to use AMEX travel at that point? I'm paying more money to earn rewards. AMEX obviously takes a cut of the hotel cost and/ or charges the cardmember a fee when they book travel through them.

  • The old days when Blue Cash cards had you redeem cash in $25 increments, so AMEX was hoping you'd never be able to redeem all of your earned rewards if you closed the card.

Some great examples there.
