Charge Card.
If I carry balances in Pay Over Time at 20% I need to get my head examined.

Rumor is circulating that it might become a Credit Card

Amex Green becoming a revolver? I'll believe it when I see it.
I hope so ! I am against it for becoming a "Credit Card" - for the simple credit reporting reason.

Yeah no. AMEX charge cards are their bread and butter. It allows them to be much more particular with their underwriting. Green is perfect for the customers they are trying to go for. Especially with the nuked Uber Card now.
CSR is still pretty tough competition.
Amex may advertise Pay Over Time heavily and relax their credit standards as to who is eligible and for how much...but a charge card will likely remain a charge card. Too messy legally to try to convert it to a "true" credit product.
I agree, much easier to just launch a new Revolver than convert a Charge.
Why would they, what's the incentive?
If they were open to that idea, then they would have done it years ago instead of launching all the "Revolvers" they have now.
I don't think they would ever change their core charge product.
A few days back there was an article somewhere that referred to the new Amex Green as a 'credit' card... apparently the writer was confused due to the number of people who are being offered POT (Pay Over Time), which isn't a new feature.
After the mention the 'echo chamber' took over, and others started reporting it as a 'credit' card as well. (It's also possible some writers simply use the terms interchangeably, adding to the confusion.)
I stumbled across a blog article a few days ago that was written specifically to point out that the Green card is still a charge card.
TL;DR: The Amex Green is a charge card, just like the Gold and Platinum. Any of the three may (or may not) have the POT feature.
*Edited to clarify: When I mention 'Gold' and 'Platinum' in this context, I'm referring to this and this.
... and Centurion Card is a charge card as well.
