So I was trying out the shopping cart trick and the only one that will work for me in VS for 250 :\
So 1, is VS the easiest of the pre-Ap to get seeing express is giving me the cold shoulder? And should I wait a few months "while im improving my CR" and get one then to see if it offers 500, or just get it in a month and ask for a CLI in a few months?
Here is what I would do.... Take the $250 approved card and make a purchase buy one item.
Card will arrive in 10 days
go online and set up all of your card profile info on line link up checking to draft payment.
On due date set up an auto payment in full
following day hit the CLI button after the account reads $0 bal.
Wait 4 months and hit the CLI button again
Wait 4 months and hit the CLI button again
Wait 4 months and hti the CLI button again
Use the card once in a while on sale items PIF on due date
Hit CLI every 4 months.
SCT is soft pull and cli is soft pull... if they deny you will get a 7-10 day message and a letter in the mail.
this is what I am doing for DW

What kinds of CLIs are you getting doing that? I've heard that VS usually needs 9 months before the first CLI. The only Comenity card I've heard that's good with quick CLIs is J.Crew.
I wanted J. Crew or Express. I got the popup pre-approval to work at VS, Orchard Brands, and Ann Taylor (I took the first two).

I think it depends on your strategy. If you want a VS card in the future but can get it now, I say get it now. Your AAoA will take a hit now, but it would also take a hit 6 months from now if you open the TL. May as well let it age six more months.
Of course, if you have some long term plan and you're gardening now to achieve it, it may not be worth it.
Well I plan on gardening for the next year if possible, Will it be better just to add the card now then and follow that 4 month strategy I mean ive taken a hitting already for adding cards I guess 1 more now wont hurt...

I would heed SunriseEarth's advice above. Also, unlike J. Crew, VS (including other Comenity CCs) usually requires the account to be open/active for at least 9 months before a CLI can be requested. There are instances in which the system can auto-CLI during the first 9 months, but would largely depend on your profile and spend on the card amongst a few factors.
I opened the JCrew SCT ordered 89 bucks of sale items, linked up my online JCrew account when the card came scheduled autopay for PIF on due date, didnt even wait toll bill payed and hit cli and account went from $500 to $800 prior to first statement cut.
Just opened $500 VS SCT for DW and plan on the same, card/first order has not arrived yet.
this is my current strategy and I will keep you posted on the progress.
CLI are letter denial and no HP.... what's to loose?
After doing this with JCrew and Express open 1 month PIF. Comenity gave me an opening account with Newegg for $2400 HP but 0% for 12 mos

So I did that knowing it probably wouldn't work but was curious to see what will happen. and sure enough it didnt work and now the credit limit increase button is gone... I hope it comes back in 9 months...
just set up your online profile. PIF and it will be back... not going to take 9 mos.
