Have to admit, I'm not exactly sure what your credit report looks like in full and what they tend to care about most. If there is one downside to the card it is that the CU is very conservative with approvals and credit limits. I am pretty sure this is directly related to the fact that they use a much older and more conservative FICO 2 score for their decisions, but your score for that seems good. If I can glean anything else from the approvals/denials I've seen it is that they don't like very large total available credit limits, I think I've read of 3 or 4 denials where they told them they already have enough available credit in relation to income.
I think I just barely got approved and have a pretty decent income and never more than 7 personal credit cards at a time, very little recent history within a year of the application. You'll have a better shot with less INQ's I'm sure, but not sure how much of a difference it will make.
You'll just have to roll the dice when you feel like the time is right =D
Personally I think the SDFCU card is worth the effort. I have another card with them. It started at 1k and now a few years later it now 15k. They are extremely conservative and the6 are inquiry sensitive, but they make decisions locally and their customer service is all in the US.

Hey guys, so I thought about just waiting until March to apply cause my full time job haven't hit a year yet, but my part time job has hit a year. I know when I applied for a credit card for a CU years ago, they denied due to employment history. Rather be safe than sorry.
You will probably run into a bigger issue with having 17 cards already.
I think my existing TCL was a little higher than they'd like to see, but I had been a member for a few months and I'd had some previous conversations with CS about wanting to make their bank my main/daily driver, and that might have helped. They are very hands-on, so there will be a manual review. When you do apply, you'll want to make sure to have pay stubs ready. If you don't give them up front, they'll ask for them anyway, so you might as well save that time.
