I'm not so sure about this: Seems like an excuse to limit "CBwithPurchase" and lower their overall financial risk.
(btw: we don't utilize cash over but heads up for those that do at Sam's and Walmart)
Dear Valued Cardholder,
As the impact of COVID-19 continues to evolve, we remain focused on the health and safety of our employees and our communities, as well as our commitment to you, our members.
In an effort to further reduce the number of member touchpoints with devices, and to exercise caution during this public health crisis, we are temporarily disabling the cash-back-with-purchase functionality for the Sam’s Club® Mastercard® at Sam's Club and Walmart® registers. You can still use your Sam’s Club Mastercard to get access to cash through ATMs or at bank branches wherever our card is accepted. (cash advance fee)
We are also aware that some of our customers may experience financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. If you are impacted, please contact us to discuss how we can help.
Sincerely,
Synchrony Bank, the issuer of the Sam's Club credit card

That was my thought, after reading the email. 🙄
Plus no mention of waving a fee for $100 or less/day either like they would with a cashover. No provision; just Nope...no $$$$$ for the time being.
I saw this email this morning. It sounds to my Synchrony is using the preventable MOD CUT-NOT HERE! Coronavirus as an excuse to stop the cash back feature. To me it's nothing more than a way for Synchrony to minimize risk on the card. I knew that there is more risk now, but I didn't think it would be serious enough to stop the cash back.
I use it every so often when I need cash to avoid the ATM, well that's over and I doubt they bring it back. I'm glad I'm lucky enough to be able to pay my Sam's Club statement in full every month.
