Re: Savor One dropping Cell Phone Protection

Has anyone else *not* gotten notice of this on their SavorOne statement?

The first reports that I saw were last month around the 3rd. My statement cuts on the 2nd so I figured maybe it first went into effect on the 3rd, so I waited for this month. My statement cut a couple of days ago and the notice is still not on there.

WEMC, fwiw.

Did Cap1 QS drop cellphone protection?

So while I was shopping for a wireless plan, I checked the cellphone protection coverage on my various Mastercard products on https://mycardbenefits.com/ to see what they offered.  I was a bit surprised to find out that my Cap1 QS included cellphone protection.  So I put the initial payment on that card.  I even verified it a few days ago while I was setting up automatic payments.

I just checked again today and it appears to no longer show up for this card.

I don't recall seeing anything from Cap1 saying cellphone protection was included in the benefits.  However, I'd be a bit surprised if was included and they'd just pulled it without notice.  Can anyone verify if they made a recent change, or if I'd just hallucinated it from the beginning?

PS-  Also, I just posted a thread in Smorgasbord asking for pros and cons of credit card cellphone protection vs AppleCare.  If you're inclined to poke your head in there, I could use some advice.

Yes, WEMC... hence my being able to check the available benefits on that site.

Huh...

Thanks for the thread merge.  I hadn't seen this, and I haven't had a statement since April so I never saw the notice.  Good to know.

Re: Did Cap1 QS drop cellphone protection?

Not Cap One, but I recently got a notice that my Fred Meyer Rewards World MC would be dropping this benefit. It's okay by me because I use Amex Bonvoy for Wireless billing, but it does seem to point to a switch bynthem to focus more on grocery rewards and in store spend. What finally irked me was they added anew 5% categaory that I cannot use, "eligible" mobile wallet purchases. They should have just upped their in store points to 3..

There is the WF Active Cash flat 2% CB that was just released that has cell phone protection. With that said tho WF can be fickle if you don't have a relationship with them.

Not sure if this has been confirmed yet, but if Max Cash mastercards do offer cell phone protection (and it seems that some might), that could be the best, 5% off the bill + insurance.

I called MasterCard Assitance Center (800)627-8372 and verified that my World Mastercard Max Cash  card does have the cell phone insurance. I picked the one from First National Bank of Texas. The is also a website you can enter to verify this info as well us.mycardbenefits.com . The rep told me its a World Mastercard issued by US Bank probably because Elan is a division.

After my recent discovery that the wording about cell phone protection has been dropped on the Elan site, (see, or rather don't see, under Protection on Card Benefits | World Mastercard® Max Cash Preferred Card (myaccountaccess.com)

from your MC account)  I would be interested to retest in Jan!

Re: Savor One dropping Cell Phone Protection

Considering the longevity of this benefit seems questionable on any given card product, I've elected to just forget about it and get AppleCare on my new phones.
