Re: Secured Card Problem. Oldest Card but high fees. Want to cancel, but how?

Great artcle.

Is there any way to get these card companies to remove these crazy rates other that just asking? Any laws or regulations? Credit scoring seems like a shell game. You do something you feel is right, but it could turn around and bite you. Is there a step by step way of getting the top score, or are we slaves to the credit computer?

Currently no, the new credit card regulations don't kick in until next year.  So what's happening now is a lot of issuers are jacking up their rates to beat the new regulation.  As far as getting a great score, it takes time, years of managing your credit.  You should read through the Credit Scoring 101 thread for more info.

Also read the Success Stories thread.  People have done some amazing things following the advice on these boards.
