It does, yes. But my DW has a CO WM card, so we really hadn't even bothered to consider our BCP after our initial test with Gold last year.
That and the few times we did curbside pickup it took 15+ minutes for them to bring it out once we'd arrived. (Yes, really - at least one time it was closer to 30 minutes) No idea if they've improved on that since, but that put a pretty sour taste in our mouth for the whole idea given we could have done our shopping in that time by ourselves. We do frequently do delivery (we have a subscription) but she's had her CO WM on there since signing up. We're going to give the BCP a shot on the next go-round.
NOTE: I feel my WM adventures have taken over this thread, so I'm going to leave it at that. Thanks for the tips though guys, you'll see a future post by me if it DOES NOT work. Else we can assume this discussion settled. Thanks again!
Walmart Plus delivery is the best thing ever. Save gas and wear&tear on your car. Save time. Less temptation to buy too much since you have a running total, which doesn't exist with a brick and mortar shopping cart. MCC to the grocery category. Good prices when your items aren't loss leaders at the much more expensive grocery stores.
For best results, I don't trust Walmart Plus for fresh food. I don't let them substitute anything.
Another tip - The grocery category can be manipulated by buying store gift cards (eg. airline gift cards, Uber gift cards, home improvement store gift card, etc.) You often earn the store's reward points with those gift cards as well.

Can you PC that 1.5% card to a current Citizens Bank card? They currently offer only 2 cards, one low APR card and one cashback credit card that pays a flat-rate 1.8%. No good reason for you to continue hanging on to that legacy 1.5% back card.
I can't end the card because it contributes a lot to my average age of credit and really good payment history. Just barely use it. I don't get charged an annual fee and I'll have to see exactly which one it is. FYI unless I'm doing a 12/24/36 month no interest financing (which never happens), I pay things off immediately

The suggestion is to PC, which will retain the card history

Walmart SuperCenters are not considered grocery stores so they don't earn reward points.
Can this be changed by Walmart? It seems like you can use their Online Grocery Store to buy gift cards and all non-groceries for the %?

It was my understanding that credit card companies frown on gift card purchases. Is this not the case?

They do indeed. U.S. Bank is known to be particularly sensitive to gift card purchases and, with a bit of Googling, there are multiple reports of U.S. Bank closing customers' accounts (without any advance notice) after even a single gift card purchase.
Some other issuers handle the issue by excluding gift card purchases from earning cashback/rewards. That's the case with Citi and Wells Fargo.
Either way, it's not advisable to attempt any kind of "manipulation" as was suggested above. Of course, legitimate/organic gift card purchases can still be paid for by card, though even then I wouldn't recommend using a U.S. Bank-issued card for the purchase.

You said it better. I'm pretty sure nobody is getting shut down cause they used a credit card for small gift cards around the holidays. But even without level 3 data or whatever, I'm pretty sure people spending several hundred dollars in short spans of time at a grocery store will raise an eyebrow or two.
Edit because my phone's autocorrect saw me type holidags and did not do its job 😒🤣.
