Solve this SDFCU mystery for me

So today I decide to join SDFCU with plans to apply for their Visa a little bit down the road.  Get to the part in the application where they ask for how much much I want to fund the savings account with and from what source.  I put $50 and check PayPal as the source, figuring that they would ask for my PayPal info on next page.  Click thru the application to where membership number is created and nowhere do they ask for PayPal account info.   I subsequently log into the new account and sure enough there is $50 sitting in the savings account.  Where did this $50 come from?  The email address I used to sign up isn't even the same address that I use for PayPal

Re: Solve this SDFCU mystery for me

I did exactly what you did 3 day's ago. Opened a chk & sav with SDFCU. I tried to use my CC to initially fund, but it wouldn't accept it. So I choose PayPal and it worked, sending me to the PayPal website which allowed me to choose the exact same CC I initially tried to fund with. It worked. No problem. Put $25.00 in each account. The following day I applied for their VISA requesting 15K CL. They pulled EX, sent me a "truth in lending" paperwork and needed a few signatures, copies of my last 2 pay stubs and DL. The truth in lending paperwork I signed showed 15K CL at 6.9% APR w/NO AF. It's been 2 day's and I haven't heard a thing. Don't know if I was approved or if this is how they do things.

I had to pay via paypal as they did not accept my CC or debit card.

Do you have your paypal information auto-saved?  Were you actually logged into paypal during your application?

They possibly running a bonus for opening a checking account or something similar?

Sounds odd, is there a transaction source associated with it?

I'm thinking you may get an invoice from paypal, perhaps under that "bill me later" program?

Re: Solve this SDFCU mystery for me

To answer the questions.  I do have my PayPal info saved but I wasn't logged in and I've checked several times and there is nothing on PayPal to indicate a withdrawal.  If the email addresses were the same I might understand but they're completely different.

Revelate, I thought about that but there's nothing on their site to indicate anything like that kind of incentive and there is no transaction code

Its possible that I'll get some kind of bill, so guess time will tell
