@barbaralee wrote:Yeah, student cards, Credit One, even SpringLeaf are designed for people with little to no to bad credit. You started your thread saying your credit is fair, but judging by the rejections I would say otherwise. I would also think there is something else going on your report, whether you are aware of it or not.
I agree. I would pull my credit report (annualcreditreport.com) if you haven't already and made sure everything looks as you expect. It sounds to me you might have some baddies you don't know about if you are having a hard time getting approved for student cards (Discover, Citi, Chase) and rebuilder cards (CreditOne, Capital One).
Normally the suggestion is to garden two credit cards (even if they're secured) for around a year. If you haven't applied for a secured card, I'd go for another one of those for now, and then garden until you are ready to move. Also, how many CCs does your wife have? I'd suggest the same course for her. I think I remembered you saying that she had a baddie, right? Have you tried to PFD for that?
Well update guys. Good news is I may have a new job lined up that literally pays triple what I make now, so I will be able to save more and get another secured card at any rate to work with for a while. We are going to move literally a week before classes start if I get this new job, so at least we will have a little padding. Hopefully all of that falls into place and I can stop the minimum wage job I'm working now. And hopefully my score will improve. Unfortunately my TU score dropped because of all of the inquiries. I guess that's life. Regardless, thanks for the help.

Well like I said, don't know for sure yet, but hopefully everything works out by then.

Thank you so much, We appreciate it!
It's good to know that you are getting some good news!!
I know this wasn't mentioned and maybe you don't want to go to the effort of doing this, but I would definitely try the shopping cart tricks.. (the ones that gives Visas) Like Fuel Rewards network, that sports place, or whatever they are. I've never done them, but I hear people can get a lot of cards/limits that way.
So sorry that our advice didn't work. Sometimes, it is hard to get money when you really need it. --- It's the main reason why I tell all of my friends protect your credit and maximize it because you will NEVER know when you need it the most.
Well guys. I have yet to hear back from that job, so I guess thats a no go and my cars transmission went out. Bad news is its $2695.00 that we can't save. Good news is I was approved for a $1000 credit limit through GE towards the transmission. But thats just another payment on top of the extra cash. So yeah it is still rolling down hill.
