Sunflower Bank?

Anyone have experience with them? They're a regional bank here in Denver (as well as AZ, KS, MO, NM, and TX) with some really low credit card rates. Their best card (Platinum) is 6% (it's a variable card with no margin on the prime rate but has a 6% floor so it won't go up again until the prime rate does) and their highest is the Classic at 7.65% (1.65% margin with a 7.65% floor). In addition to these low rates, their cards are rewards cards (ScoreCard so not the best but better than no rewards at all).

No BT fees, no CA fees (or higher APR), no AF, 1% FTF, no penalty APR on the Platinum card. Pretty wild terms for a bank honestly.

Re: Sunflower Bank?

I did run across them when searching for low apr cards for potential future app but shelved it for later since I didn't know if they are geolocked or not. It's nice to see some banks still offer low aprs similar to credit unions.

Re: Sunflower Bank?

Iirc, I believed that I may have possibly apped for them anywhere between 1-2 years ago, but was declined due to being out of the geofence area (alas, ironically the geofence decline was done *after* they had taken a HP, and had previously stated -- until they didn't -- that I was eligible to app).

Live in AZ and never heard of them. Although their logo looks a little familiar.

Totally agree with that statement though.  Wow!

Re: Sunflower Bank?

Intriguing. And here in Colorado no less. Let me know what SL you get, @Saeren lolol

But seriously, if they hand out decent SLs AND have no BT fees, I would be irked that I didn't find out about this sooner.

I don't know that I'll try for it honestly. I have my NFCU Platinum that's low enough interest if I ever need to use it. It is certainly intriguing though the idea of having a card that won't actually have an interest rate hike until the prime rate passes 6% (it's 3.25% right now). Maybe when I start applying for cards again in October I'll think about it. For now I'm sticking to my 1 year of gardening goal.

Re: Sunflower Bank?

In Tx and haven't heard of them or seen a physical location. But like you stated, "pretty wild terms" for a traditional bank. Interesting, too bad I'm gardening, would have app'd just for the DP!

Yep. If I wasn't gardening for the Cash+, I would totally have taken a shot at it myself. That's a bit of a unicorn card and it makes me really curious what kind of credit they're looking for. The page says "We work with you, whether you’re establishing credit with your first card, or building on a proven financial track record." Sounds pretty wild that they would even give their classic card to someone who was looking for their first card!

That's a dream come true right there.  I'd like to have that in my arsenal for sure.
