You're not alone... I've also got an eight year old Capital One card sitting 'snuggly' between my t-shirts and socks. To make matters worse, my oldest account by three years is none other than Lowe's, which is of course underwritten by our friends at... Synchrony. 
I think you'll be OK from here on out, though... until somebody says otherwise I doubt Capital One will suddenly change their business model overnight. As for Synchrony, let's hope the 'bloodbath' is over, and we've seen the last of their mischief.
