That's how I read it, and to be frank, the 5% discount is the only reason that I have the card. If they do away with it, I see no reason to keep the card.

I don't see that the 5% is gone. There seems to be specifics still to be worked out and disclosed. This article says Target will be servicing the accounts.

i worked for TD Bank for 9 months here in new york.... their credit cards are pretty good but extremely hard to get approved for. not sure if they'll be more lenient with the target CC now...
one plus is that they excel and preach customer service up the wasoo
