Can I use my Target card for the 5% off then go to service desk and pay the balance off with a credit card, thus earning another 2%? I'm assuming Discover does not consider them a department store- that would be too good with their 5% category coming up soon.

As far as I know, you can't use a credit card to make a payment on another credit card. You could always try it and report your findings to us. Thanks in advance!

Pay target with discover...pay discover with visa...pay visa with mastercard...oh if only we could, this forum would explode. No, jimmer, I dont think so.

I think you would have to try using the Discover in Target during Q4, then see how the transaction posts to your account. it might code for the 5% bonus.
unfortunately you cant do that. You must enter a pin number when making a payment! how cool would that be though?
Practical ways of doing that sort of thing is what manufactured spending is all about.
But just for saving at Target, if you don't need credit card protection on the purchase, buy discount cards:

With a 2% card to buy the gift card, you are getting 6-8% off.
I need to get something this week so I'll test it and will let you all know how it goes. I vaguely remember having to use my pin last time I paid my charge at the service desk using my debit.
AFAIK, you can use debit cards but not CCs to pay at Target.
