Re: Target

Hauling,

My aunt has the store card and received the $200 limit first and after three months she received the store visa with $2000. She didn't even ask.

She did say that she paid twice a month though.

I just applied and got an IA, so I will see how her method worked.

Re: Target

The number that I called to check my limit was 1-800-591-3869.

They did show me the CL online after I was approved also.

Re: Target

I have a $300 CL with Target since 1999. I called them just now.  You CANNOT request a cli, it's new that it's automatic.  No one can seem to tell me why after 8 YEARS! Of no missed payments, no over the cli, I have not had a cli or been offered a visa card.  He said the only thing he can do is notate my account that I was looking for cli and have never had one!!  Accounts are being reviewed this month rather they can be upgraded to visa this month he said.
Let me know if anyone sees a new Target Visa card come in the mail, I will be way jealous!

Re: Target

OK .. You guys were right .... I could not wait any longer and I called Target.

I was approved for the store card $300 limit 23.74%.

It just seems like such a difference when you get approved for $7500 (juniper must be very generous).

Re: Target

Target has its own in-house bank, and it seems that they are very cautious until the two of you have some history. Looks like it ought to pay off in six months, though, hang in there! (sorry creditlover, looks like you got buried under a rock or something back in the day...)

Re: Target

Hopefully this will give you some hope.  I, too, applied w/ Target around Nov last year.  Money was tight (after buying a new house a few months prior), and I wanted to get my wife SOMETHING for Christmas (I know, the WRONG reason to get a card is to go from no money to being in debt, but I had a very sizable chunk of money coming in just after the first...$50 on a card was a drop in the bucket).

At any rate, I got the card (don't remember if it was instant or not) at a $200 limit.  A couple of weeks later, I got her something around $35, then paid it off a couple of days later.  As I started learning about inquiries, age of accounts, etc, I started kicking myself in the butt, because in the last 24 months, I've had 24 inquiries, and because of the late start of my 'credit education', the age of my accounts is somewhere around....oh, 18 months or so, on average.  So, angry at Target for giving me nothing but a crappy limit with a bad rate to go with a new inquiry and TL, I put it in a drawer.  After the new year, never needed the credit, so it's collected dust.  Until now.

I received a letter saying 'thank you for being a great customer, (WTH, right? I only used it ONCE!), you have been upgraded to a Target Visa'. My other CL's are $300, $400, $750, and $2000 (recent CLI, I was juiced!).  Well, thanks to my ignorance of all things Target, apparently, I was awarded a $10,000 credit limit.  Needless to say, it blew my mind.  This was no pre-approval, it was approved, straight up w/o further hard inquiries.  I got the card today.  SO!

Moral of the story - if they give you a $200 limit, don't fret.  They apparently like to take their time, but in the end they make it worth it.

I hope these words give you hope!

Re: Target

Thanks DNM...One other thing I wanted to add.  Though I'm no expert, thanks to this site, I consider myself informed and dispense financial advice from time to time to some of our younger employees.  In one such case, a young man had been given the 'we are reviewing your application' response when applying online for an AMEX Blue.  >gasp!< Amex Blue!  Just because you started a jogging regimen last week doesn't mean you're ready for the Boston Marathon, man!  Okay, so he asked me what that response meant.  I told him it could be any number of things...your current address doesn't show up on  the CR...your bday was off (happened to me for two years before I figured that out) by a day, new job or your employer showed up as United States Coast Guard instead of US Coast Guard...

Doesn't mean your credit is bad, just that they need a manual (read: human set of eyes) reviewing it.  A lot of the time, you'll be approved within a few days...Hope that helps!

Oh, BTW...he was approved for the Blue card.  Turns out since he hadn't had an inquiry in two years, his address was different and it flagged him.

Re: Target

I got my target card Saturday....

I still have not activated it

I got my Sea miles card yesterday ......

I was looking forward to getting the mail today and was sad when there was no credit card or pre approval offer (not that I was expecting anything).

I had just been so excited to get the mail the past few days....

my scores have take a slight dive...
