Thanks for nothing, Cap1

Cap1 can go to a deep dark hole and never come out. **I'll have you know, It took a lot of thought for me to think of something to say about them that woudlnt' get deleted or edited**..

DH was called in 2006 and offered a one-time-offer that if he PIF right there on the spot, they would delete the "Charge-off" notation and just leave it as "paid/acc't closed by credit grantor." No joke. So, being younger and so much dumber, we jumped at the chance.

Of course, the account still said "paid after charge-off/closed by credit grantor" when I pulled reports last month. So we wrote the GW asking for them to place the notation THEY had offered to us! We didn't even know enough to ask for a deal like that two years ago!

Guess what the response was? They updated the report so that now it says "paid after charge-off/closed by credit grantor. Credit Card." and the original balance has changed from N/A to $405. That did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Cap1 is the worst. Ever.

Re: Thanks for nothing, Cap1

If I had knew anything about "getting it in writing" back in 2006, I totally would have. Unfortunately, we were overseas in Gtmo Bay, and didn't know a THING about credit repair. Still thought CAs were honest and wanted to help us as much as we wanted to help ourselves and all that crap.

Now it's a question of getting them to uphold the useless verbal offer they made, which is hard enough with a "normal" company, but from what I've read, virtually impossible with Cap1.

That's fine... they lost our business for the rest of eternity. Which may not matter to them much now, but will matter a LOT over the next 1-2 years as our scores rocket into the mid-high 700's!

The paid status really helps either way, don't despair so much. No biggie there, but next time yes get it in writing. Chances are tl  may just update to a more preferential status...Smiley Happy

Re: Thanks for nothing, Cap1

Orl - yeah, but the status already WAS paid after chargeoff! So when they "updated" our report last week after receiving the GW letter, they didn't change anything. No better, no worse to note that it actually was a credit card.

Just kind of wasted their own time. And mine. But I WILL PREVAIL! Resending GW tomorrow Smiley Very Happy Maybe someone else will have the post office run this time...

Re: Thanks for nothing, Cap1

I have had Cap 1 AND a debt collector do exactly that to me. Promised to show my debt paid in full and this would "look" positive on my CR. Took my $ and this old debt is still in the neg.
New Twist: Called by a Debt collector, offered to clear my original balance WITH a Paid in Full or reaged account to current minus the $750 in fees on this old balance, Payoff offer from me 250 in writing....THESE IDIOTS SENT ME A PRE APPROVED CREDIT CARD OFFER FOR THE ORIGINAL 1K Note !

Sorry, time to change these glasses lol. I don't understand how cap1 works. I've gotten 4 baddies removed by them, yet other members are given such a hard time. I just flip a coin with cap1 when it comes to gws. GLSmiley Happy
