I've never done a BT before. Is this available for store cards too or can I only BT other major CC's?
You can BT store cards as well....

Note: All balance transfer requests are treated as cash advances. Cash advance
interest charges will accrue from the date we post the advance to your account
through the date it is paid in full. The Annual Percentage Rate for balance
transfers is the same as purchases.Typically when you make a BT with Navy Fed, the balance is treated like a cash advance.. and you start paying interest immediately once the balance transfer goes through but, keep in mind that Balances that are transferred will accrue interest at the balance transfer rate, which in this case is 0%... so basically, you will begin to pay 0% interest immediately once the balance transfer goes through .
Thanks webhopper!
I'm going to take advantage of this offer!
I just transferred my Barclays Apple balance over to my NRewards card. I'm about to give them the axe.

Why are you closing Barclays? Have you had them a while?

Thanks for the info. I have some small balances on some of my store cards and I was going to pay off next month. But I think I will go ahead and transfer them so that NFCU can see some large payments on my account.

I've had them since Aug/Sept 2011 right when I got my Zync. I honestly just want to consolidate the amount of cards I'm responsible for. I'll try for an increase and make up my mind based on the outcome. I just realized that I've hit the $31k mark in open revolving credit accounts. If I don't let them go, I'm definitely getting rid of most of my store cards then. Spreadsheets are not where it's at when it comes to managing things. I got credit happy and have a difficult time finding things to charge just to keep my accounts active.
***I forgot we're in a new year. LOL I put last year as if we're still in 2012. *slaps forehead*

Wise choice to close cards if they are annoying to manage. I only have 3.... my best buy store card has been open since 2009 and I haven't charged anything since 2011. I have updated my address with cap 1; requested a replacement card; and will charge tax prep software on it when the card comes in.
Ive had jcpenny since 2003. Card remained inactive until 2012. I called them in 2012 and requested a card and have used the card 2 times in 2012. Limit is at 2400 now. I buy pantyhose there a few times per year.
Amazon card opened early this year I have used it 2 times... I applied after I got the 7-10 day message with chase. Now I use chase mostly but I did use amazon for 2 purchases this year.
In the last three years I closed dillards. Had lowes closed by grantor after paying off a large 0% purchase. Carpet 1 closed for inactivity... never used the card because I got a better deal elsewhere.
Cap1 I closed in 2009 because never could get a CLI
Chase freedom closed in 2009 because I never got a CLI
Wow you went awhile without charging anything on those cards before anything happened. Sweet deal. I shut down my Amazon account this past weekend. But that was after trying for an increase for a second time and just giving up on asking for one later in the year. I'm just finally starting to see that this entire thing started out as rebuilding credit and when I got a taste of prime cards, I wanted to "collect" one from every company that I could. It just isn't the right way for me to look at things I guess.
One should always have some sort of credit available in case of hard times and just to show general responsibility. Everything else is...Well...We all have our reasons. I'll just leave it at that. LOL It's ridiculous!!! It looks like I've just gone up and down Las Vegas strip collecting comp cards from every casino that would give one to me. LOL classic!!
So happy about this since i just rang up about 1700 at Firestone on my Sapphire. That will BT to my new Card NF card plus i will collect my 10,000 rewards points from chase! Love this site!
