Today I got rid of 3 subprime accounts before the annual fees hit, Credit One: $1000 dollar limit. Merrick Bank: $750 limit, and Continental Finance: $300 limit. I lost a little over 2000 dollars worth of utilization so I asked NFCU to raise the limit of my Flagship Siggy and Cash Rewards Siggy from 22500 each to 25000 via online banking. Received a counter offer of 24000 for both accounts which I obviously accepted. In the nine months that I've been with NFCU I've gone from being declined for both cards, to getting a reconsideration for 1000 dollars for each then as follows every two months or so: 1000 to 5000, 5000 to 14,000, 14000 to 17500, 17500 to 22500 and finally 22500 to 24000. NFCU ROCKS!!!!! 3 month ago I applied for Navcheck and got approved for 5000 then one month later, requested an increase and approved for the max amount of 15000. Did I mention NFCU ROCKS???!!! Then later on in the evening, I bought groceries at Sam's Club and got the pre approval at the register. Went to guest services to accept and received a 1200 limit from GECRB. So then I'm thinking to myself, let me ride this. I go home and apply for the account that I have been repeatedly denied 4 times in the last 3 years; Amazon, who I literally purchase hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise yearly. Approved for 900 dollars. Called GE credit solutions and ask for 2000 just for giggles and 2 minutes later approved for 2000. What an amazing day! Closed three accounts, opened two, but increased aggregate utilization by about 4000. Thanks to all the great people on this board that have educated me on the finer points of credit rebuilding. I filed for BK7 in May of 2011 and this is truly a rebirth for me! Thank you everyone!!!! I promise I will be in the garden for good this time.....
Astig! Congrats tol!

Yes NFCU ROCKS!
New here........what does NFCU stand for? Navy Federal Credit Union? How do you open a new account with them if you don't know a "sponsor"?
Thanks so much!

Thanks so much!
Somewhere on Navy Federals Website there is an eligibility wizard that you can use to determine if you are eligible. I believe I read on these forums that you just have to be related to someone who is eligible to join and you can get in. Best credit union ever!
