Thinning the herd feels good

It feels good to "thin" the herd.  After sucessfully closing my Amex cards and citi simplicity card, I decided to unload some AUs accounts as well. My utilization has not changed and I just wanted my accounts slimmed down.

Amex

Citibank

Home depot

Ebates

Ikea visa

Overstock.

I have a few more that i am debating on but will wait for these acciunts to reflect on my reports.

Re: Thinning the herd feels good

I see your signature lists a mix of individual card as well as lenders. What was your recent maximum number of cards, and how many remain?

Any thoughts as to the next round of closures or new replacement cards?

I'm at 17 across 6 issuers, but may go to 16 across 5. If I had to use 17 different card websites I'd certainly close a few!

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: Thinning the herd feels good

My axe session happened in November of last year. It was liberating and therapeutic.

Re: Thinning the herd feels good

When I closed Ebates, it was somewhat euphoric Smiley Very Happy If Synch had at least ante'd up to $5K, I would've kept it but alas... I'm happier nixing that card for BBVA.

I may close a couple more here sometime in the near future. Decisions, decisions....
