Welcome to the forum

1) Stop apps

2) pay off debt

3) let all the INQ's age

Those scores either arent current or are FAKO because you have to many maxed out cards not to be dinged in the scoring big time IMHO YMMV

All your prime cards are maxed and question are any of those from the apps this year?

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Time to Expand the Portfolio?

Def not FAKO. All purchased through MyFico during the passed two days. I generally pay at least $100 a month on each card along with another $500 on a card of my choice going debt snowball method. I'll probably use tax returns in Feb to pay off walmart completely.

+1

I'm thinking gardening would be your best friend at the moment given that some work needs to be done with utilization.  Ideally, if your utilization was in the realm of <10% coupled with other positve factors, then sure no issue with adding 1 or 2 TLs.  One thing for sure, AMEX will always be there waiting for you.

Re: Time to Expand the Portfolio?

the Barclays and Wells Fargo cards where used on my euro trip this summer. Generally util isn't this high. I'm just fighting inpatience and wanted to get some expert opinions on what I could get away with before I picked up my hoe...

I say go with your gut. You already know what's best for you, you're just looking for assurance, I would venture. Either way, it's not the end of the road, and it's not doing to dammage to the point of no return. It's your credit. You know what you're doing.

Re: Time to Expand the Portfolio?

It's a HP on EX maybe a triple pull.  You will lock in 2013 as MSD.

Re: Time to Expand the Portfolio?

Not feeling the triple pull. I'll aim for the 10% util. Thinking I should just go for the Amex cash back at that point and prolly a citi card and try and upgrade the wal mart to a discover.

Re: Time to Expand the Portfolio?

The triple pull may not occur.  It's up to you if you want to wait- probably a good decision.

one other thing, the upgrade to Discover from the store card is by invitation.

Sounds like a great plan.  The above poster (ptilda) may have offered a more "adventurous" approach but only you know where you stand as far as your profile and whether the risk is really worth it in the end.  Best of luck on your credit endeavors!
