The AMEX HHonors card is on the bubble, will be closed soon, so I transferrred $8k from it to the Delta Platinum card. I have the Citi HHonors card, and while it's not quite the same earnings, it's time to start cutting back on some cards. The last time I stayed at a Hilton was 2013, so having two Hilton cards is a bit much. Delta Platinum limit is now $20k, AMEX HHonors is $2k.
I also took advantage of the upgrade offer Delta Gold to Delta Platinum for 15k miles after $1k spend. The annual companion pass will be useful. There was no HP with the upgrade / product change to Delta Platinum. That Delta Platinum card was sent regular mail. I'm considering whether to go for the $25k spend in 2017 to try to get the 10k MQMs. It will be a stretch with AMEX.
I also requested the Contactless version of the Delta Platinum a little over a week after getting the first version. You have to wait 7 days from getting the card before requesting Contactless. They sent the Contactless Delta Platinum UPS and it arrived the next day, even though on a two-day plan.
Those are reasonable changes that make sense for your use and personal situation. So closing the Amex HH is understandable. And good on the upgrade.
