I do find that strange!   My expectation from the "natural" reading would be that each point is increased by 20%, so basically 1% becomes 1.2%   When you get 5, that's 6%

So, I have to ask, is the 1.2, 2.2, 5.2 confirmed by experience or the bank?

Re: US Bank Cash+ bonus cash back offer

But that would mean it would take less that ten thousand of spend to get the $20, and US Bank doesn’t really want to give anyone the $20.

The OP needs to hit $900, and I need to hit $1,150 before we will be able to confirm. But the T&C language spells out 1.2, 2.2, and 5.2.

Re: US Bank Cash+ bonus cash back offer

Terms and Conditions:

¹ Promotion period is November 1 through December 31, 2019. Enroll in this promotion by November 30, 2019. Once you spend $300 in net purchases during the entire promotion period, additional net purchases (net purchases are purchases minus credits and returns) will be awarded an additional 0.20% cash back per dollar spent (up to a maximum of $20). The 20% more cash back is based on the 1% cash back you already earn, which means 1.2% cash back for every net dollar spent. If purchases during this promotion apply in your chosen cash back categories, you'll earn 2.2% and 5.2% cash back for those net purchases. Additional cash back will be credited to your Account 10–12 weeks after the end of the promotion period. Your Account must remain open, have available credit and be current (no minimum payment past due) to qualify. This offer may not apply if the type of rewards that you earn changes within 12 weeks before November 1, 2019, or changes before the additional cash back is applied. Certain transactions do not qualify to earn this incentive, such as advances, convenience checks, and balance transfers. See the Cardmember Agreement for complete details. This offer is accurate as of October 1, 2019. If you have any questions, call Cardmember Service at 800-285-8585‍.

Re: US Bank Cash+ bonus cash back offer

^^  Thanks!   So that is very clear and does indeed make the offer of vanishingly small value.

What I want to see is the whale who spends $10k on a Cash+ ( after meeting the $300 to $1,150 threshold ) in a 60 day period to get the full $20 bonus.

Who is up to the challenge?

If that's the same as my offer, it's more you have a chance to win even if you just use it once, but if you use it 10 times a month you will get 10 chances  (and more than 10 gives you 10).   And/or, bill stuff!    A true treasure trove:

Use Zelle®1 in the U.S. Bank Mobile App (or online banking) to settle up or send a monetary gift to a new recipient you trust. When you pay someone new, you’ll be entered for a chance to win $10,000

Pay new billers with U.S. Bank bill pay to earn more entries. Add new e-bills, too! The more new billers you pay and e-bills you add, the better your chance to win.

Reading the rules, it's a sweepstakes so you can also just enter by mail.....
