USAA Amex

Got approved but the interest rate is a little high.

Should I ask for a better rate? If so would it make more sense to ask upon activation or to call member services now?

I also don't want a hard pull but don't believe saying this will matter too much.

Re: USAA Amex

I think if it were me, I would use the card for at least 6 months to establish a track record.

Show them that you will use the card correctly, then give them a call.

As a side line note, I have their Master card and have used it quite a bit. They automatically reduced my APR to 7.75% which is good in my book.

What APR did they give you?

Re: USAA Amex

The USAA Amex is a great card. Most of the bennies of Amex, and some are even better. For example, with regular Amex, they do an extended 1 year warranty on electronics and other things. It's 2 years with the USAA Amex.

Re: USAA Amex

APR is 15.9%.

Gonna call tomorrow and ask. It won't cost anything, LOL!

Do you plan on carrying balances? --just curious.

Re: USAA Amex

^ Probably not.

In theory, the rate shouldn't matter.

Smiley Wink

FWIW, it took a while for my USAA APR's to drop. But I never noticed when it actually happened, and I had to look up the rate when I got curious.
