Get an additional 20% cashback up to a total of $20 for each dollar spent after making $1700 in purchases between August 1-September 30. 

Not a terribly exciting offer, but it is what it is.   Perhaps there are multiple variants of the offer, some with a lower threshold.

$1700 threshold is pretty steep before anything even kicks in.

Exactly, that's why I tagged it as being a meh offer.   I threw it out there in case there are multiple versions of the same offer including some with a much lower mininum spend threshold, not unlike what Citi does with their Sears Mastercard bonus offers.

There are different spend threshholds; mine was $500.  I spent $620 in the same period last year and it will be the same this year.  That's going to get me an additional 24 cents in rewards.  Woohoo!!! 

The 20% increase assumes all spending is at 1%.  My spending is all 5%.  The math in the fine print says additional rewards are 0.2% of incremental spending.  I never turn down free money so I'm enrolled in the offer.
