A family member just joined, and she gave me her access number. I wanted to know my chances for approval based on my score TU 649. I plan to app for a checking, savings, navcheck, and cc? any thoughts?
*****************I just applied for the credit card and was told I needed to wait 3-5 days for a decision. Does this mean I was denied?
*****************I was approved for $5000. Yay!
They pull EQ but assuming your scores are roughly the same and any baddies are fairly well-aged I'm sure you have a great chance of being approved for a CC. I had lower scores than you did when I got my cashRewards card.
What was the CC limit they gave you after approval? do you think I should apply for both the bank accounts and the CC on the same day?

They pulled only EQ for me. That was to both sign up and apply for a credit card. I didn't open any other accounts. They pulled a 675 EQ FICO and approved me for a high limit card. But you should definately know what your EQ score is.
With the Navy NavCheck, your TU and EQ can be lower and your chances are better with that line of credit with Navy Fed for around 3k-10K. The credit card is a little bit tougher but with a EQ score of 640 you should qualify for at least 3K-10K for a cash rewards or point rewards card. You cannot have overdraft protection and a overdraft line of credit at the same time so choose the line it will serve you better. Your overdaft will report to all 3 bureaus as well as the credit card. Take care of them and they will take care of you when you need them the most.

They started me at a $5000 limit (a $1000 secured card was my largest CC at the time) for the cashRewards card.
That's interesting about the overdraft LOC being supposedly easier to get. Had I known that I might have applied for both around the same time.
Anecdotally I think people have better success if they get the checking account w/ DD then wait a few months before applying. But I've seen enough people with no checking products at all or freshly opened accounts get approved for high limit CCs so that may not be particularly important.
Good luck with apping!
FYI, they currently have a $25 referral promo: https://www.navyfederal.org/pdf/membership/NFCU_2028_412.pdf (opens as PDF)
