@MisterWives wrote:Considering applying for the Venmo credit card as in the future, after the pandemic, I hope to utilize the QR code on the card when with others. Along with I heard the 3% grocery category option includes Wholesale clubs which is very big in my opinion.
I have not seen much talk about the card or the kind of stats you at minimum need should consider to have before applying, but considering it just came out say 2-3 months ago that is not surprising. Along with since it is Synchrony, I assume a lot of people here might not apply out of principle from the purging a couple months ago.
The lowest starting credit limit so far I have seen is $250 and highest 30k on here. Lowest APR is 15.24% and most credit scores are around 700 or higher, but there seems to be people are getting denied above 700 too.
I am uncertain and looking if people know if they are inquery sensitive or too many accounts opened in x time limit? Hoping for more data points if anyone can provide.
I was denied because of the type of credit card attached to my PayPal account.
It's a paypal 2% mastercard....

Odd, but I suppose since Venmo is owned by PayPal, that makes sense. Similar to when they changed the rules a few years back with eBay MC and PayPal MC - you could only be approved for one or the other but not both (unless grandfathered with both before the policies changed). I wonder if anyone has been able to be approved for both PayPal 2% MC and Venmo 🤔
@FinStar I misplaced the denial letter, but the other two reasons were fluff, so I believe this may be the real reason. Will be a valuable data point if you can only have one or the other.

But, at least you recall that there was something overtly stated about PayPal or something associated with your PayPal account. Do you remember the other reasons? Go find the letter 😜😆😆😛 j/k.

I was actually looking for it earlier. The other two reasons weren't remarkable enough to remember. I was expecting "too many inquiries" or "balances relative to limits", but iirc, they were barely credit related. The 3rd reason stuck out like a sore thumb and I couldn't remember what card was on there earlier. I looked and the only cards I have on there is the ppmc, my cu debit, and a cap1 card.

Gotcha + the only reason I asked is because it's being dangled like a carrot (aka shiny) in my Venmo app for a while. Well, I no longer have the eBay MC, but I was approved for the PayPal 2% MC late summer and would hate to go through the process only to find out "no soup for you" because of that DP, which I appreciate btw 😁

I got a hard pull, so if that's the case, that's pretty messed up. You could always take one for the team, slugger. It would confirm or deny it.

I'm thinking about it 😜 I can't recall if SageStream is locked or not since I haven't apped for anything in a while that required it to be thawed so I'll have to check. If locked, who knows where that handy dandy PIN is😬

Interesting I didn't realize Venmo is basically PayPal. That denial makes more sense I was wondering why Venmo cares about someone having a PayPal credit card
I've had the PayPal Extras card since 2018 (not the 2%, though), and was approved for Venmo CC in November.
