I have Capital One Venture card with a 25 year history. it was a Platinum for 23 years with a cl of about $1,000 and for the past 2 years and with some spend it went to QS1 to Venture1 to Venture (mastrcard)with a $5,600 limit and somehow a $0 annual fee. I was just approved for the Venture X with a $30,000 limit. I dont want to close the venture as it has a $0 annual fee and it has a 25 year history. Is there any benefit changing the venture to a Quicksiver. I guess no-one could be for sure but does anyone think a quicksilver mastercard is more likely than a venture mastercard being pced to a savor one card. Also would the uber one credit(although temporary) be a reason to change to quicksilver.
Since you have the VX, you are right in thinking you don't need the Venture card even at the $0 AF. Since your 25 year card is a Mastercard, you might be allowed to PC to the Savor family. It's kinda of a rare thing though.

I don't see any downside to keeping that card a Venture (I assume you mean a Venture and not a VentureOne). There isn't really any upside either, if you get the Venture X.
There has been a recent data points from a user who PCd their Quicksilver to a SavorOne, which pairs much better with the Venture X, and which has a better deal for Uber. It can't hurt to check with Capital One to see if that is available to you.
I'd keep the Venture card open to pad the age of accounts. I don't know of advantages of PC to Quicksilver, unless you don't have a "everything else card." But there are a number of cards that offer 2% for everything now where the QS just pays 1.5%. I'd just buy a sandwich with it every couple months to keep it alive and wait to see if someday they offer you the chance to PC it to something more useful like a Savor or SavorOne.
I was one of the rare cases recently who got to PC a QS to a SavorOne. I don't know if changing it to a QS would improve your chances. I was wondering if changing to Venture One would improve my chances to eventually PC to the SavorOne I really wanted. It's anyone's guess with Capital One.
Yup I was thinking about your recent PC thanks for stepping in @mgood .

Still wating for it to come in the mail.
Got my CSP yesterday, which I applied for three days after I PC the QS to S1.
I think I can use my QS card and it gets Savor1 rewards now, if I'm not mistaken. So I don't really have to have the physical card to use it.
But I'm busy working on the SUB for the CSP now, so I don't really need the other card I just want it.

Hold on to the Venture since there is no annual fee. Check the PC link to see if you can change to Savor, if so, then make the switch. Switching to QS will be 1.5x compared to the 2x on your Venture.

IMHO
1. You should definitely not close the Venture card.
2. You should try to pc it to a Savor One. If that does not succeed, then just keep using it a little and try again in the future.
The only advantage I can think of for not PCing your Venture card is "just in case" you ever decide you don't want to pay an AF but you do want a travel card with some of those benefits.
And it's something that might never happen. As long as the AF and benefits on your Venture X card stay at least more-or-less in line with each other, the AF might continue to be a great value for you.
I would go for Savor.
