WAMU cards have no rewards at all? Unless they have a low APR for a long term balance carrying type card, then what's the point?

The point, for me at least = free PFICO

I'm glad they declined me with the 588 EQ a year ago. It was obviously a blessing in disguise.

You ain't just whistlin' dixie here!  Wamu is a small-time, wanabe prime pretender, IMO.  There are definitely better lenders out there.

Re: WAMU...Applying Online

Math, You will most likely receive BT checks with your welcome kit for your new card. The checks will be the same terms like 0% until whatever your offer was for, then 12.49% thereafter... and one of the checks will be preprinted with your name, so you can deposit into your checking account. Deposit the check into your checking for the amount of your Providian balance and then payoff the Providian account. I would not suggest depositing the check into your newly opened Wamu checking account though.

Just providing my experience from my Wamu pre-approved visa offer from last September... it was for 0% until January 2009 then 9.99% after that. The offer said CL up to $7500, but I was instantly approved for $10,500. I transferred about 2K with my app and then received BT checks as described above with my welcome kit and used one to payoff a Cap One personal loan at the beautiful rate of 0%. I have not used the card at all and at my 6 month mark they increased my CL to $12,500. My balance s/b paid down to $0 by November. I love when 100% of my payments go to principal.

Hope your welcome kit has those BT checks. Smiley Happy

Re: WAMU...Applying Online

I got the plain MC in 09/07 and by 05/08 they gave me a 1K cli and 1% annual rebate andis my largest CL has become defualt card

mainly due to way I like to manage my cash flow.

what money isn't drawn on check goes into high yeild savings, so I want to delay payment as long possiable, an this card atleast 33% longer to repay interest free than the typtical card, so if I can't get a bonus with another card,it's the card it goes on.

Ok then, here are few questions.

Do all of their cards have fixed APRs?

Any rewards on the Plat MC card?

Any Airline cards?

Did they yank your TU score?

Petsmart Visa (expires 8-1-08):  0 fixed until May 09, 16.99 after that, 3 reward points per dollar at Petsmart, CL up to 7.5k w/ median 2k

Plat Visa for me (expires 7-16-08):  0 fixed until July 09, 14.99 after that, no rewards -- just 3 bogus, er bonus features, CL up to 7.5k w/ median 2k

Plat Visa for mom (expires 8-8-08):  0 fixed until Aug 09, then 9.99-23.99 (prime + 4.99-18.99), no rewards/just three bonus features, CL up to 30k w/ median 4k

They soft my TU.  I refuse to apply at WaMu.

Hope that explains the recent offers!

Not all of them.  My WaMu Real Rewards MC is 12.99% variable, but DF has 9.99% fixed on the non-rewards Plat MC.

Any rewards on the Plat MC card?

Not on the normal Plat, but they do have the Real Rewards card (which I have), but that is invitation only.  The rewards are extremely mediocre.  There have also been reports that they may "upgrade" some Plat cardholders to 1% cashback after some amount of time.

Any Airline cards?

No, I don't think so.

Did they yank your TU score?

They pulled EX for me (on two different occasions) and also for DF.  We are both in NY.  I have heard that they also pull TU, though.

As far as your original question goes, they did recently change their policies to only allow online CC apps from current accountholders (checking, savings, etc.).  Those who don't have an account can apply for a CC at the branch, though.

Hope this helps!

Re: WAMU...Applying Online

No online apping for new applicants
No apping over the phone either

WAMU needs to learn some CS skills from Amex and BoA/FIA

You can go into a branch location and apply if you're not an existing accountholder.  But, fused, why on earth are you so intrigued about WaMu?

Re: WAMU...Applying Online

It's not for me! My younger cousin is trying to build credit but he only has FICO EQ and TU scores. He has a med collection on EQ, so I was just looking around for options to help him. His TU score is 688 with a clean history. BTW, WaMU doesn't have any branches in Hawaii.

Ahh, gotcha.  I figured it wasn't for you. Smiley Wink
