The biggest thing that is missing from the JPM select card is 2x on dining which the CSP has. If they added that to the select, I'd change in a heartbeat. I can't begin to tell you the number of times a checkout chick has tried to jam my CSP into the machine overseas thinking the Visa eagle hologram was a chip. I've had to call in more than once to Chase asking for a replacement card since the card didn't swipe very well after that.

Maybe now that Chase added 2x dining to the Hyatt card they will do something similar to the JPM?

I'm actually hoping Chase would add a different bonus category or two to the Select card.  Chase lacks a gas and groceries card, for instance.  If even 2x points on gas was added to the Select, it would probably move that card up to the top of my prospect list, since it's already on my radar with the chip and hidden tradeline aspects.

@If gas and grocery benefits are your target, you should upgrade your BCE to a BCP.  No card compares for groceries @ 6%.

and gas at 3% is pretty good too.

Re: WOW AUTO CLI JPM SELECT

Groceries aren't really a big expense, I'm single and dine out a lot.  Gas is, but there are better cashback cards for gas than the BCP.  I actually prefer useful rewards points (like MR or UR) to cashback though.  I really only got the BCE so I could have a high reported credit limit for my Sapphire application.  I used to use the Amex PRG for gas and some groceries, but downgraded to Green to save a little money.  I ended up applying for the Sapphire earlier than I originally planned and now my Green isn't that useful.  I think I may go back to the PRG as I really am missing out on a lot of MR points with the Green.  I also want to keep earning MR points, not just UR, because Delta is big at my airport.

I've been hoping for a similar card, but if they add a gas and groceries feature I don't think that it will be on the JPM Select. All 3 JPM cards are niche products by design (ritz Carlton, select with primary CDW, and the palladium). They cater to a fairly limited audience, and thats probably how JPM likes it. Gas and groceries are very (pardon the term) "pleb" categories that everyone needs but won't mix well with their intended clientele. The JPM customer service line is supposed to offer superior and more exclusive service, even when compared to the CSP. The last thing JPM would want is their services being clogged by a bunch of families with 4 kids who want the card simply because they spend a lot of groceries and gas. It would simply draw the wrong kinds of people in their eyes. I like the idea as much as the next person as I spend about $300 each week on groceries, and gas here is around $6 per gallon. I just don't see it happening with a JPM product of any kind.

Re: WOW AUTO CLI JPM SELECT

Hard,to argue with that position, creditscholar. Making these elite cards more appealing to the masses dilutes brand image--exclusive no more high end becomes typical.

Re: WOW AUTO CLI JPM SELECT

Unfortunately, I think CS is spot on.  I don't actually see Chase adding any more bonus points to the Select, I would just really hate to see it become another card with a dining bonus when Chase is lacking a gas and groceries type card.  If Chase does establish a gas/grocery card, it would be a card under the Chase brand.
