Walmart Credit Card - SL & CLI

Earlier I was looking at buying some moderately priced headphones on Walmart.com, and as I logged in, it stated that I was pre-approved for their credit card, as well as $25 off the first purchase of $75+. I went ahead with the app, as I did a quick search and showed that they mostly pull TU. I was approved like 2 seconds later lol but for a measly $800 limit. I was about to leave home but I remembered there may be the possibility to recon so I looked up the backdoor number. I spoke to a semi pleasant rep who was straight to the point on what I was calling about. I requested an increase and said $5k. He put me on hold for a few minutes to review my report and then returned to confirm that the $5k SL was approved. I was glad, because I didn't want the pull to feel wasted for a toy limit.

Okay, now questions:
Since I was given a store card, can I ask about getting it to a MC?
Would it be advisable to call again and also ask for more?

If so, what do I say and how much? My Amex account just posted (my highest limit of $10k) and my util is at 10% and TU score at 697.

I have a Wally World store card with a $600 limit. I think I'm in my third billing cycle. How would I go about getting a CLI? The love button online doesn't work.

I called in today to get a CLI but I just opened this card maybe a week ago and the CSR suggested I wait 6 months. Is that standard? I dont think she was looking at my CR or anything.

AFAIK, the upgrade is by invitation only.   Unfortunately, I haven't seen any posts of upgrades since Wal-Mart charged from the cobranded Discover to the MC.

As for getting an even higher CL, you can call Credit Solutions at any point.   If they approved the full amount for you, you likely left some on the table.   Many members suggest to "aim for the stars" with your CL requests through them.

It sounds like you called into the regular CSR.   You would want to try Credit Solutions if you're aiming to get them to review a fresh report.   However, Credit Solutions isn't always a magic wand.   I had no success with my Wally card through Credit Solutions for my initial CL.   I was approved at $300 and it was after my sixth statement that the LUV button worked and I went to $700.

Check the Helpful Threads sticky thread...there's a thread called "Backdoor Numbers," which will list Synchrony Bank (maybe "Sync Bank") and there are Credit Solutions numbers there.

After the approval, I directly went through the sticky thread for backdoor numbers - listed as Wal-Mart: 800-480-0205 (personal accounts)

I'm going to call again today to request a higher CL, at least 10k in hopes that i'll be given the MC invite.

The APR is not great, but it'll be my second SYNC account and among my higher limits.

I'll update this thread after I make the attempt.
