I'm at $2,500, but have the Wmt Discover now. Store card got to $2,400. My scores now are like 670-680'ish. In order for them to approve a brand new Wmt Discover account, it seems like the applicant needs to have extensive 'bank card' experience. By bank card, I mean like current Visa, MC, Amex, Discover
that was my problem. that when i apped (mostly instore obviously.) was only offered store versions.
walmart i did on line and did not recon since i would just let my parents use the card to get stuff at walmart.
i really apped for the tu score. but might go there more often now. (before maybe once every 3-4 months)

Got in with a 680ish. 700 limit
Anyone with enough credit to get the Walmart Discover could probably get the regular Discover, like More, along with thre improved rewards IMO..
Discover More and IT cards are much easier to get, though from what I have read the GE versions will grow much faster unless you have an 800 fico score

Many have both
I got a Walmart store card back in 2008 with scores in the high 500s, so I guess I was pretty lucky. I started with a $300 limit and it grew to $1500 and then they upgraded me to a Walmart Discover with a CL of $2000. No CLIs since then, but I use it very sparingly since my Discover More has much better rewards. The Walmart Discover may get some action during the holidays, if I decide I want to use their 0% financing for gifts.
