Want to join Navy Federal via brother, but brother is over his limit

I would like to join Navy Federal and my brother has membership, but, he is over the limit on one of his cards with them.

Will this have any standing on approvals?

Just curious if anyone knows.

I don't want to be responsible for his irresponsiblenessSmiley Wink.

Your credit and his credit shouldn't have any bearing on membership. All he is doing is giving his member access number to you so that you can join. They will ask you questions about you from your credit report that only you will know if you sign up online, but it is not a hard pull until you actually apply for something. I just joined yesterday and the signup was pretty easy and straightforward. Good luck with them.

That will not affect your eligibility nor your approval on credit products.

Thank you posters.  I've been contemplating this for a long time and didn't want to waste some hard inquiries on my Equifax report.  Hoping that is the CRA they pull.

Off to join!!

If you don't open a checking account during sign up, you won't get a hard pull.

I'm 99% sure that there isn't a hard pull for Navy Federal checking accounts...

Anyone gotten a hard pull personally upon applying for a checking account there?
