So since Wayfair and Comenity are splitting ways and all cards are being shutdown in September would it be better to go ahead and close the account so it says closed by consumer on ur credit reports rather than closed by issuer?

Kinda sounds like a valid theory, but consider the opposite from UW point of view "They are opening and closing accounts, must be churning/sub chasing"
Any underwriter who's been working longer than one day knows accounts get closed all the time for variety of reasons.
It's really about whatever you're more comfortable with.
