I was denied because of a lack of credit card history. He says the score is fine but they want to see an established history before extending credit. At least they only ran an inquiry on TU. I guess I'm stuck with the secured cards for the next 6 months or so until I build a track record of payment on time.

I'm a little disappointed, but it's not like I needed the credit. Thanks for the info and help creditaddict. Should I consider myself in the garden, or is there a way to get them to reconsider sooner?

with all the baddies gone are you only showing the 1 loan and 1 secured card that are both under 6 months?

Can you join Navy Federal since you are in USAA?

I believe they are open until 5pm Eastern... so I would call back around 3 or 4 and ask for recon again... they can see they have recon once but they don't mind 2 or 3 and make a run for it with your statement as soon as you can since you know what the issue is!

Re: What Card Should I Apply For?

I have three car loans (one paid off) and one cc showing on TU, which is what they pulled.

Re: What Card Should I Apply For?

Shell would probably be a good one. But I'm thinking I should probably just garden the cards I have for a few months before apping again.

He also said my TU score was only a 655, despite confirming the same info (clean file except one 30 - day a year ago on my ex wife's car) I have on my report that shows me at 707. But I'm thinking that the score they used was probably credit card weighted, which would make sense as I have virtually no cc history. That should come up over the next few months too, I'm thinking.

Re: What Card Should I Apply For?

From Experian monitoring via USAA. I'd think it would be closer than 50 point swing.

I need to get a real credit card. Right now I'm holding three new secured cards, with newly rehabbed credit - 698 EX, 707 TU, and 716 EQ. 3 car loans all paid up, and one line of credit at my credit union which isn't on my CRA yet. Only ding on my credit is one 30 - day late 13 months ago on an auto loan.

What I'm concerned about is having too many inquiries- I have 3 in the past 12 months, but I'd like to get a "real" credit card and increase my credit available. Any suggestions for one I should be able to get approved for?

A question about your EQ score......

How in the world do you go from 555 EQ to a whopping 714 EQ in 28 days???????????
