These weren't part of 5/24 last time I read about them a few months back, of course that's subject to change and may have.

I applied for the AARP and Fairmont card, the guy at recon said they are both subject to 5/24 now and there is no way to go around.

First they don't publically acknowledge the 5x24 rule..  If you would of let your applications sit and didn't call you might of been approved unless they were truely insta-declined...  Many people can vouch that those cards are not part of the 5/24 rule..If you call up and try to recon sure chase can say you have to many new accounts, but that doesn't mean those cards fall under the 5x24 rule.  Tons of people from this forum and many others have applied for many of those above mentioned cards with tons of new accounts recently and have been approved

Okay FIRST, I was sharing my experience so that others could possibly benefit, and since you seem to be aware of many of the other forums and the discussions on them you would know that Chase has acknowledged the 5/24 rule at least for the CSR card. Also it is spelled publicly. If you should care to read about their acknowledgement a simple google search should turn up a few results.

If that was your experience then that is fine and thank you for the data point.  Just how you worded it made it sound like that is "chase's offical policy" for the above mentioned cards, which isn't the case..  Just trying to keep accurate information is all.  I am well aware how to use google as well.  Thanks and have a good day.

Hey Tydawg...Attacking a CL probably isnt the wisest thing to do, and will probably result in others coming forward. CC is well versed in Chase, and is giving you his opinion/advice. He's been around these forums for awhile, and has lots of experience with Chase/Chase apps and holds quite a few of their cards.  Might take it back a notch, and get a better response.

the 5/24 rule is clear.  If you want a way around this rule, or after a decline, is to maybe go to a branch if you have relationship with them, and talk to a manager who has a little pull.

Agree with CC....

Okay, curious as to how you know that isn't Chase's policy there is anecdotal to go both ways... I was not attacking anyone but sharing factual based information both on my experience as well as what can be found on google. Just because someone is CL does not make them God or right all the time.

No one said they were God or right all the time.

How many times did you recon your app? once?

Not good enough....I would recon via BD # at least 3 times before I took no as their final answer. There have been lots of success stories of getting cards on 2, 3, 4, 5 recons calls. good luck

I'm getting the itch to try-was denied in June for too many new accounts but now my FICO is 40 points higher and if I go for one of the ones listed above maybe I would get approved.

Which card exactly are you wanting? Just any card from Chase thats not included in the 5/24? I can confirm at least in my situation that my denial letter from the Amazon app stated too many new accts in 24 months, amoungst other things. But...then again ive had like 20 new acct this yr, so I expected it, LOL..

I had reconned three times when the guy said that, your final push convinced me to try one more time, after 40 minutes and the underwriter using a microscope on my credit report they approved me for another $5,000 with the Fairmont card, y'all were right, still salty that the dude told me that yesterday -_- up to $30,000 with Chase and another data point that Fairmont is not included! Thanks for your help!

LOL... Glad you were approved and glad you came back to say it wasn't under the 5x24 rule Smiley Happy.  I think Pizza was being sarcastic about reconning 3 or 4 times, but hey it worked for you and yielded an approval which is what matters!   Kudos to you.  Funny outcome from all this!
