I've closed 6 cards throughout my credit journey:
US Bank College Visa - My first credit card, but it went bye-bye when I got a few rewards cards
US Bank Rewards Visa - My second card, which I got when I was rejected for a US Bank Cash+. I let a bank teller talk me into the Cash+, without me recognizing that my credit reports wouldn't allow for an approval, and I ditched it for better cards after a few months. I was naive with credit at that point, but that mistake led me to search more info on credit and wind up on this forum, so this mistake led me to lots of learning!
Barclaycard Rewards MC - This was a pretty good card for me along the way. No real complaints, but I closed it when I felt I had better cards.
Chase Amazon Prime Visa - This was a good card, but I got rid of this when I decided to significantly reduce my spending on Amazon. I felt I was spending too much on online shopping, so I didn't want to downgrade this card to the regular Chase Amazon Visa. I've saved quite a bit of money by reducing my online shopping.
Schwab Investor Amex - I got this through an impulse application. It didn't really serve much of a purpose. I closed it just over one year after the approval to not have to forfeit the statement credit sign-up bonus. I split most of the credit limit from this card between my other Amex cards before closing.
Fidelity Rewards Visa - This was a good card, but the $50 redemption amount was very hard to reach with the amount of spend I put on the card when compared to my other cards. That's my only complaint with this card. I got rid of this card shortly after getting a Citi Double Cash.
I am the type that prefers to close cards, rather than sockdrawer them.
@UncleBhad a juniper card if I recalll...

Now that I think of it, could have been a bunch of spend coming and I wanted a 0% APR on purchases.
I closed a UPromise Citi card in 2003. I realized, I couldn't really pay much tuition with rewards when my kids went to college. The 529 wasn't something that would become large from rewards earnings. I didn't even try to move the CL to my Citi Platinum Select.
I closed everything down in 2001 during a divorce, then reopened a few after divorce finalized. They were mostly joint account cards.
In 2001, I opened a Juniper Bank credit card because I got an offer in the mail and it was a clear green card that looked cool. That wore off and the fact it wasn't a well-known bank, I closed it. I think someone made a com,ent about it (Juniper Bank?? Who's that??).

Yeah, it was a rare card, but a bet a few here had it.

Yep, I sure did... opened around 2002-ish. IIRC it was my largest credit line at the time.
Unfortunately when I was downsized in the mid-2000s it became a casualty like many others, and that's why I'm on the Barclay's naughty list today.
As far as I know, that's actually the only naughty list I'm still on. At the risk of sounding like 'sour grapes' I'm not too torn up over it, though.
Amex Platinum (Ameriprise Ed) It was free AF the first year, but no sign up bonus. I'm a cashback person, so the 550AF and earning points didn't really grab me.
Discover IT It was one of my first cards i got when i started my rebuild. Even tho it got most of my spend, as i only had 3 cards at the time, it wouldn't grow after graduation (no cli at graduation either)
Home Depot SC I got it to start working on the house but only got a 500SL, and just wouldn't grow with usage.
I have at least 5 cards now that are on the fence. I am waiting to increase other ones that do grow so i won't take a hit on Util when i do.
