The only reason I keep my Cap One card is for the no currency conversion fees.

I didn't want to doubt what you told us Smiley Happy. I just wanted to point out that different banks may handle this differently and charge foreign transaction fees even for US dollar purchases with foreign companies. I think it might be interesting to know which cards you used that didn't charge anything.

I bring a small bank of U.S. dollars and U.S. dollar Traveler Cheques with me. I never use the Traveler Cheques and end up depositing them back into my bank account after the trip, but bring them as an emergency funds source (FYI -- I've never paid a fee to buy them).
