My REI Visa is now an REI MasterCard...new number and all.
What does that look like on my reports? Date opened still the same and all that?

Because there has to be a new account number, there's a good chance that the Visa account is closed out and a new one opened with the MasterCard account number. Only way to know for sure is to check a report or two to see what shows now.

As a counterpoint, when Citi converted my Dividend Visa to Dividend MC, the account number DID change, but there was NOT a new account. It was an "edit" of sorts.

I don't like it when you disagree with me :-). That could very well happen and I hope it does for toothgrind3r

*cues suspenseful music* it was nice that that was how Citi did it for me, and I hope it does for OP, too!
Should remain the same tradeline with same history and account opened date and such. They should only change the account number. Good luck.
Thanks guys, I'll let ya know what happens.

Correct. When US Bank switched from MC to Visa for the Kroger CC, the same outcome occurred. The opening date and history remained intact with the notable exception of the account number.

That is also what the analyst told me is going to happen to my BofA card as I had a MC and they are PC to a Visa Signature.

When Bank of America changed my Visa to MasterCard, my credit reports kept the same account, but it showed a different account number. They never added a second account for me.
