I just got approved for it for 3k limit. I haven't actually heard a lot of discussion on this forum about that card. I'm not opposed to using it as my general spend card once my Disco cashback match promotion ends. Right now it's the only card I have that gives higher than 1%CB on general spend. I got it for the $200 SUB but I'd give it a chance to be my general spend card until I get a DC or something like that if nothing is inherently negative about it. If it is bad, then I will get the bonus then SD it.
So anyways what is your opinion on it?
You may get some passionate reponses any time you ask about Barclay. They're known for having a very itchy trigger finger for adverse action. Tread carefully with them.
The CashForward is a pretty good card for the bonus, but long term it doesn't measure up to competition from other issuers.
+1 above, they can be weird from what i read. I've been fortunate to not have any issues.
Short term is good because of the bonus. Long term no (except for the CL UTL), also has an FX fee. Some others that will be better long term are the City DC and Fidelity Visa..among others.
I have this card for about 18, I used it to get bonus, a BT. Paid off BT. I don't used it much anymore. I'm still at my SL of 4500. Maybe a cli after zero percent is over. But I hate the $50 redemption to get rewards.
Do any of you guys happen to know if getting the $200 from $1000 spend counts in the threshold? Also I don't have to withdraw in incremements of $50 like Amex right? I could withdraw anytime I have over $50 right?
Ideal situation is get the $200 to get above $50 threshold then use it as my main driver until I get a 2% card. After I get 2% card, then redeem my rewards then SD Cashforward card.
You can take it all out. But you have to be a big spender to make this a go to card. I used it for bonus cashed it out. Then it's just sitting there. I use it once a month, other then paying off BT. Since I know Barclay is funny about lowering your limit after a BT.
Applied, approved for 15k SL, which made it automatically my highest limit card. Did my spend to get the bonus, paid it off, then took advantage of the 0% balance transfer to move $5000 over.
Made my first payment of $200. Few days layer I get a text alert that I'm approaching my credit limit. **bleep**? I login, expecting to see nefarious activity. Nothing. Again, **bleep**? Figured it was just a text alert glitch.
Got the same text the next couple of months, before I FINALLY noticed that my credit limit was showing as $4800. Barclay balance chased me after the BT. I went from 33% utilization to 100%. Never got a notice from them of my SL decrease.
A few weeks ago I tried for a CLI to see if I could improve my utilization, and they did bump me back up to $6500. But I learned the hard way that Barclay CLI''s are a hard pull.
I'm not impressed with them at all, to say the least.
Looks like this card sux lol.
