I carry my Discover and a debit card. I have no need for anything else.
Wait!!!! That doesn't add up to 5.
I only carry a wallet that has an id holder on one side and the other side has two card slots.... so, in my wallet currently there is:
1) BankAmericard signature Visa
2) Amex Plat (work/travel)
If I had to choose only 5 to have in total, it would be these:
1) BankAmericard signature Visa
2) Amex Plat
3) NFCU MC
4) British Airways Signature Visa (Chase- yea, yea, i know...)
5) UBS Signature Visa (great service and worldwide offices)
I actually just finished trimming my lines a few months back - down from 12 accounts to 5. I didn't really feel like I could give that many cards the usage they deserved, and managing them all was certainly a hassle; in that respect, even 5 may be too many for me. Anyway:
Schwab Invest First Visa
Ameriprise World Elite MC
Discover Escape
Chase Sapphire Visa
Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards AmEx
The cards I have that I like the most...
Discover More
US Bank Platinum
Compass Platinum
Alliant Platinum
Simmons Platinum
I would like to have PenFed... sometime later this year once I become a member.
Thanks to all that have contributed to all the forums here at MyFico.
2 years ago my fico scores were in the upper 400's, and now with educating myself, diligent work to correct mistakes, and taking advice from here and a few other sources, I'm now residing in the mid 700's and I hope to reach 800 later this year.
Thank you,
Phil
Today I'm carrying:
BofA debit card (because there's a BofA ATM in the lobby of my office building)
Addison Ave. FCU debit card (in case I need cash & the BofA ATM is out of service)
PenFed Visa
Amazon.com Visa (issued by Chase)
The CC mix changes over the course of the month as statement cycles end. In a week, I'll replace the Amazon.com Visa with an EmigrantDirect MasterCard (issued by Barclays) - right after the end of the MasterCard statement cycle.
