Discover was one of my first card in 2000 and Costco at that time accepted Discover and right after I got it, they switched to AMEX lol. I initially got it for 11k which was extremely high for my annual income at the time. They raise me up to 12k a year later and then another 1k, then when I threaten to cancel it was raise to the current limit of 15.7k and I rarely use it now. I use my united visa mileages for everything now to get the miles.
Discover gave me $5k limit with a balance transfer for half that amount due in 15 months at 0%. I was happy with it considering I apped a lot this year.
I'm new on the forums by the way!
Welcome aboard dres2k. Right place to do research and getting inform.
16K limit.
$1500 starting limit - and they acted like they did me a favor doing that!
AMEX / Costco gave me a $10k starting limit......
I wonder what Discover is afraid of?

I received a $9600 limit in March of 08. This was much lower than my other limits from BofA - I had two cards from them with $20,000 limits.
I used my Discover a fair amount at the beginning, up to a few thousand a month, but have NEVER received a CLI.
The card doesn't get much use any more at all. I frequently make large purchases for work and them am reimbursed for them (sometimes $5-10K per month). I always use my BofA cards for these because I don't want to tank my utilization on the Discover.
Discover was also my first credit card. I applied for it and got accepted back in August of 2009. Keep in mind that Im a current full time student and part time worker in a community bank. My limit was originally $500. About 3 weeks ago It got raised to $1750. I aint complaining, not bad for someone still in school.
Recently applied and was approved after calling to verify info. Approved with a $5,000 CL. My highest and also my first "prime" card. High APR 20.99%. My second highest limit is Capital 1 $1,500 10.9% APR -692 Equifax FICO. 39% UTL. They pulled Experian. I was shocked at the limit! I plan on using it and PIF every month. Im very grateful for the second chance I've been given with a prime lender. Thanks to these forums, Ive made great progress!
