What’s your current card setup?

Between personal and business I currently have 25 plus cards. Yet I’m still 4/24 haha. By next summer I will be cancelling a lot of business cards and a few personal cards and I’m looking to streamline a bit and still work on signup bonuses.

For me it is:

Amex Schwab Plat- airfare, benefits
Amex EDP - groceries, gas
Amex BB+ - general spending
Chase Hyatt - 15k spend for additional free night
Chase Ink Unlimited - transactions where Amex not accepted
Chase Ink Cash - cell phone, internet, cable
Chase Ink Preferred - travel, UR transfers
Chase Freedom - 5% categories
Discover It- 5% categories
Random signup bonus

While it doesn’t look simple it feels simple to me. I accumulate UR and MR and the cash back on the discover gets used for Christmas presents once a year. What is your setup?

Re: What’s your current card setup?

Until I hit my SUB on my Amex Gold, it’s Gold for everything.

Related, I thought I had to spend 3k for 50k. Just learned in a chat earlier it’s actually just 2k spend for 50k.

Citi Double Cash- 2% general spend

Sam's Club Mastercard- 5% Gas

Discover It and Chase Freedom- 5% Rotating Categories

Amex Everyday Preferred- 3x on grocery (will be downgrading)

Overall the two biggest workhorses are the Sam's Club Mastercard and Citi Double Cash.

Re: What’s your current card setup?

I also feel like I don't have a complicated setup, but don't tell my wife that!

Citi DC - 2% the workhorse for non category general spend
AMEX BCP - 6% groceries
USAA Rewards Plus AMEX - 5% gas
US Bank Cash+ - 5% home utilities and
TV and internet (I'm really fortunate that my electric, water and garbage companies accept CC without a fee. Same with Xfinity for my bundled phone, tv, internet, and home security)
Barclays Uber - 4% dining
Freedom - 5% rotating categories which hadn't seen much action this year until Q4 Chase Pay dba Samsung Pay which is awesome!
Chase Hyatt - keeper card as we love Hyatt hotels and just want the "free" anniversary night

Some of the cards I'm considering adding:
Chase Amazon, but I haven't pulled the trigger because I can usually just go down the street to the supermarket and get 6% buying the Amazon GC there. We don't shop at Amazon that much either (by millennial standards).
The 5% Walmart - haven't applied yet because 1. using my Citi DC is just so easy 2. I haven't crunched my numbers to see how much I spend there to see if I can justify it and 3. I don't want to over optimize and make my strategy too complicated.
Penfed Pathfinders - no AF so I get a free $100 airline credit every year! Yes, please. Need to convince my wife first before applying.

amex offers for gas (10%+)

Re: What’s your current card setup?

I use a 4-card setup:

Amex HH - restaurants, gas and groceries

Discover - the 5% category

BoA PR - travel

PSECU - anything non category

If the new Amex Green comes out with 2X for everything, I might snag that to replace the PSECU. If that doesn't happen, I'll be replacing the PSECU card with a DC card (when it offers a SUB again) since I don't have a MasterCard yet.

*Edit: Forgot that I use my BoA CR for 3% on online purchases (doesn't go in wallet).

Re: What’s your current card setup?

Amex EveryDay - some small miscellaneous purchases (1x MR). Will be keeping open for a while to hold my MR points after I close the Gold.

Amex Blue Cash ED - gas (2%), groceries (3%) when I retire the Amex Gold card this month.

Amex Gold - groceries (4x MR), restaurants (4x MR).

Barclays Uber - cell phone (1%, insurance protection), streaming services (2%), restaurants/bars (4%) when I retire the Amex Gold.

Capital One Quicksilver - sock drawer. I use it for toll renewals and to pay for parking through the Park Mobile app (1.5%).

Citi Double Cash - monthly bill except cell phone, larger every day purchases (2%).

Discover it - 5% rotating categories.

Citi Premier - should be arriving this week or early next week. Will be using for everything until I hit the SUB.
