I have 5 AMEX cards. I have the Platinum Delta Skymiles, I really don't like to fly Delta but I like the free Companion certificate; the Hilton Honors Ascend Card, Hilton is my preferred hotel; I have the new Marriott Bonvoy card, I loved the card when it was SPG, Marriott isn't my favorite place to stay; I have the BCE, not really seeing the benefits of this card, besides a 0% introductory rate that will end on April 28th; and finally, I have the Platinum American Express. The Platinum is not worth the fee to me.....I wouldn't normally shop at Sak's, but because of the credit, I find something to buy. I typically wouldn't spend $200 on Uber per year, but since I have it, I use it for mindless things. I travel no more than 5x per year, leisurely. I do enjoy the Gold Statuses with Hilton and Marriott that I get with the Plat, when I do travel, but isn't that often. Soooooo, I would like to reduce to no more than 3 cards. Which ones should I get rid of? Should I get the Gold to replace the Plat? I dine out very often. Thanks in advance.
Amex Delta - You like the companion cert so keep the card
Amex HH Ascend - You like Hilton so upgrade to the Aspire and get Diamond Status at Hilton and $250 airline credit
Amex Platinium - one of the best travel cards and flexible.
You don't travel much but when you look at what these 3 cards offer - $450 total in air credit, free rooms from Hilton and a companion cert... that's **bleep** near 50% of an inexpensive trip right there.
Apply for AMEX Gold to get th SUB. 4x on Grocery and Restaurants are more your style.
Close Platinum (if it's over a year old and you are not getting benefits).
Close Delta Platinum as you can concentrate on MR's and transfer to airlines (Delta, JetBlue) and Hotels (Hilton, Marriott) of your choice.
Close BCE once it's over a year if you don't care about statement credits.
BEFORE closing the revolvers transfer CLs to the Hilton card.

Do I have to wait a year for Plat and BCE? Both will be 1 year next month. If I close my Plat, do I lose my MR? I have around 160K.
Seems to me that you need to completely revise your credit card strategy. I don't know why you have all those Amex cards. They're not meeting your needs. I think you need to focus on other lenders.
Get rid of the BCE. Get the Business versions of the Hilton and Marriot cards.

If you don't have another MR earning card, yes you will loose the points.
You should either redeem your points or open another MR card.
If you arent traveling much, I think the Platinum is a hard sell at $550. You would likely be better served by the Gold Amex. I think the credits on the Gold card are much easier to use then Platinum. You can inquire about a downgrade to Gold.
