What to Do With Old Navy 1K Visa?

Sadly, I succumbed in-store to the allure of an Old Navy card...it saved me $80 on what would have been a $180 purchase. Took the hard hit to TU, and got only a 1K CL. Worried all weekend about my AAOA, decided to app for Costco Amex (I love Costco, will never give up my membership there, have no travel cards, and 2% CB is better than nothing, I figured, since I only travel domestically. Was only expecting a CL OF 5K like my other card, but they gave $14,700!

Should I, or is there a way, to recon an Old Navy CL at its inception? Or do I / should I earn my way into their higher CL graces? If you have any experience begging for a higher CL at the very start with their non-GE card, inquiring minds would like to know! Thanks in advance for your sage guidance.
All 3 bureaus (per Amex CreditSecure FAKO) are still 748 (as of 12/19/13). Cards: Discover It, $12,100, Chase Freedom $3,300, Chase Amazon $1,500, Walmart store $11,000, AMEX Zync NPSL, Costco Amex $14,700. US. Bank Cash +, $5,000. AMEX SPG $6,000, PenFed Plat. Cash Rewards $17,500, PenFed P-LOC $10,000, Citi Forward $5,100, Chase Slate $5,000, Old Navy, $2,200.

Oh, and what I forgot to mention is that my AMEX member date is always 1990. This is why app'ing for their cards is always a good AAOA booster for me.

You can always contact the GECRB Credit Solutions # to see if there is any flexibility with a CLI on your new account.

If it's the Visa version, is it still GE whom I contact? I am confused about who runs the 2 different versions of this card...(I haven't actually received it in the mail yet.)

Yes, GECRB Credit Solutions is the backdoor number for either store or the co-branded versions.  The number is on the sticky board, some folks have it on speed-dial for easier reference, like our fabulous Lexie Smiley Happy

Are you planning on any more ON shopping?  Unless you plan on using the Visa for outside of ON, you can contact them to see if they would be willing to extend additional purchasing power so you can take advanatage of any rewards you would normally get by using it other than at ON... Aim for something reasonable.

Re: What to Do With Old Navy 1K Visa?

I never buy more than $180 at ON. I buy only about once per season, now that my 2 girls are in college. I just want a 5K limit to bring it more in line with my other cards, and to prevent unnecessary cannibalizing of my overall CL / card average. No, I PIF department store cards same statement, in college I made the balance carrying errors and paid dearly due to high interest/my low pay situation....never again!

Definitely contact GECRB Credit Solutions then.  It will be SP btw, not HP.  Just let them know you would like to have some flexibility with your Visa credit line for future purchases and whatnot.  You can provide them the $5K suggestion when they ask (or higher).  In any event, they can counter if the account isn't currently elegible for something that high.
