Re: What was your 1st credit card?

My 1st credit card was US Bank starting CL was $500, I was 18 at the time.  After like 4 months they gave me a CL of $1000; once I noticed that I figured that was a horrible thing for me to relize when I was looking at my bill.  Sadly I made a huge mistake with the acconut it went in to collections, which I have recently paid off.

Gotta live and learn I guess...sadly I wish I didn't learn that way.

CITI - $3500 - CAP1 - $750 - RZMC - $600 - BOA - $600 - CAP2 -$500 - Credit Union $500

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

Mine was a Cap One card with a limit of $200 IIRC, this was in 2000. It was a mainly black card with lightning strikes in the background. I remembered getting a letter in the mail from them, a pre-approval I guess I should say and you mailed it back with the lil sticker placed in lil box on the card design you wanted.

That was my very first card, didnt have much income working part time at the local grocery store and just out of high school. I wish I can go back in time with what I know now about credit.

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

ATT Universal MC, CL 2000...opened in 1995. I cannot recall when and why I closed it. It still reports and definitely helps my credit file age finely!

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

If you want to get technical about it, a bank account I opened my freshman year of college automatically came with a credit card for overdraft protection. I never used it to buy anything, but I wound up unemployed and used it for cash advances to pay my rent. That sucker's been paid off and closed since 2004, I think.

As far as credit cards that I've actually applied to get, the first one would be my Capital One Platinum Mastercard, opened this past February with a $500 CL, now a $750 CL (yay, Credit Steps!)

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

Cap1 Platinum MC with a $300 CL, opened only a few months ago. Should be getting a CLI via the "Credit Steps" program pretty soon.

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

On my 18th birthday (when I didn't know too much about credit or inquiries), I applied for:

  • Wells Fargo College Visa - Approved instantly $1000 CL (had to send copy of college enrollment) Now has CL of $2600
  • BoA Student Platinum Plus Visa - Approved instantly $500 CL, now has CL of $1500
  • Capital One Classic Platinum Visa (with $39 AF) - Approved $750, now closed CL was $1250
  • Amex Blue Student - DENIED
  • Discover More Student - DENIED
  • Citi Student card (Don't remember which one, they don't offer it anymore) - DENIED

I don't use these cards anymore. I mostly use my newer, higher CL cards. Smiley Happy

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

Wow, from many years ago...Chase visa..$500 limit in 1990.  Was a college Freshman, who never learned about credit and how to use or take care of it.  After a few years, learned a hard lesson about how to use it wisely.

Most recently an Orchard Bank MC $ 500 limit in March 2011.  Have learned alot more about how/when to use credit wisely.
