What will happen to JCpenney credit cards if thay go out of business?

I have JCPenney store credit card from Synchroney with 15K credit line. It looks like that they may go bankrupt at some in the future, what will happen to all the accounts that Synchrony has out ther. Will customers be given a chance to open another type of account with chroney.

If it's anything like Sears, it'll be converted to another card, like their Home card.

I don't know about store cards in this type of situation. Thought they may give you the option for a diffrent product. If JCP does go out of business and you have a mastercard it will most likely be like the “R” Us MC and they'll give you some type of other mastercard like they gave “R” Us MC customers the 2% cards.

If JCP liquidates, expect store cards to be closed with sufficient servicing in place to allow cardholders to continue to make payments on their card balances.
