They are still there. What does that mean? They are asking me to click on decision details, which I was already mailed back in April.

It does not mean much. except that it has not been 90 days since your last app. do you remember which day in april?. in any case your report is different for a reason. you are at 708 now. i would not want amex to pull an old report and decline you again. that is why i gave you the link. i say go for it. but make sure you are after 90 days. that will go away then.

I tried for my Cli at 6 months with amex last month on june 8th. My ex had went from 662  to 705 at the time.
But when i went for the cli they still had the old report. from april 15th. so i should have waited the time to let them look at new report.

So im sure you are golden. just dont want amex to look at your old report.

My cards report next week. I'm gonna go for it then. 😊

If I app next week, is it possible that they will use the same report? If so should I call to apply instead?

My understanding is that when you apply, they do a HP at that time.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that applying by phone is the same as applying online, with the exception that any sign-up bonuses that are offered online may or may not be available if you phone in.

I also want to note that when I used the pre-qual webpage, there was never anything there for me; I just cold-apped for both my cards. I started with the charge card first since it's said to be easier to get, and if you're declined for one of their cards you can't immediately apply for another account (never tried, but that's what folks say).

Good luck!

Re: Which AMEX card is the easiest to get

That's what I'm afraid of. I appd April 25th so I would need to wait until July 25th. Which is perfect because all my cards will have reported by then and increase my score. Hopefully. 😊

Re: Which AMEX card is the easiest to get

Uncle B, I check the pre quals daily and nothing has ever popped up. I figured it was a judgement. That was the number 1 thing listed.

I do have a question.... When I applied in April with a 645 score reason for denial said fico score, then proceeded to list judgement, amount on loan too high (got the loan in nov, so it would be high then) short history 3.5 years and util too high 30% (now at 10% possibly 9 next week, got some cli)

My question is all those reasons listed, are they trying to say that is why my score is so low which I was denied for, or are they telling me they denied me for those reasons?

Dont think too deep. The reason they denied you is fico score.

How all the other things on there is the reason your fico score is so low. the why they denied you.

like now. here at myfico.

my negative attributes.

Short credit history.

and installment loan ratio too high.

I will get that with any app. but the first reason is the reason they denied you. everywhere else will list the reason for things affecting your fico score.

I certainly can't speak directly for Amex (and everybody else here - if they're honest - will agree that they can't either), all I can do is share my own personal experience.

It seems to me, based on the experience of other's I've read on here, that your major 'contributing factor' in your denial was your credit score, since you don't find many folks on here getting an Amex with less than 650 (there might be outliers, but generally speaking...).  I would be tempted to suggest that if your credit score had been higher at that time, or the judgement hadn't been there, it's more likely you would have been approved.  I think it was the combination of the two that kept you out, with more weight on the score.

This being said, nobody can guarantee anything, and of course all applications are YMMV, but reading these forums has helped me to get myself in better shape to meet my financial goals (i.e. get rewards cards that fit my monthly spending).  My situation was similar to yours; when I applied I only had approx. $1K in revolving debt, and no other debt.  My file might be a little longer, though, as three of my accounts are 8+ years old, and I do have an old mortgage account on the file (it's about to age off Smiley Sad)

When it comes down to it, there's no real way to know for sure until you just go for it  Smiley Wink

Re: Which AMEX card is the easiest to get

I have 3 accounts that are 11 years old but it says my aaoa is 3.5 years. I have 12,000 cli and am only using 1000. Which is pretty damn good, I use to max every card I had out. I am now responsible. Lol

Well thanks for your input. I appreciate everyone's responses and feel much better applying. 😊
